Water, the silent challenge of vanlifers

When you live on the road, every resource counts. And among them, water is undoubtedly the most precious. Finding a reliable source, avoiding plastic, remaining self-sufficient
it's a balance that all vanlifers eventually strive for.

At FloAdventure, we believe that adventure and ecology can work together. So when we discovered the OKO brand, a pioneering brand in water filtration, we knew it was essential for us.

Their mission is to make it possible to drink cleaner water every day , thanks to simple, efficient and sustainableproducts.

Here are our two favorites: the OKO filter water bottle and the OKO TAP system, two perfect allies for free and responsible explorers.

The OKO filtered water bottle – an essential for responsible adventurers

Compact and lightweight , the OKO filter bottle is designed for those who love to move without limits. Used in over 120 countriesworldwide,it combines technology and simplicity to offer cleaner water, wherever you are.

Its secret? A cutting-edge filter combining alumina nanofibers and activated carbon, capable of reducing a wide variety of contaminants .Its performance has been tested by accredited laboratories to improve water quality. This technology is inspired by one used by NASA.

Unlike many filter bottles, this one filters water bypressure, not suction. Simply squeeze the bottle lightly to dispense the water; there's no need to put the nozzle in your mouth.

The result: more hygienic and even collective use , ideal for couples, families or groups of travellers.

With a flow rate of approximately 2 L/min, filtration isinstantaneousand effortless.

The filter itself has a lifespan ofapproximately 378 liters(6 months to 1 year depending on usage). You can therefore fill your water bottle from a tap at a gas station, a village fountain, or even a mountain stream. The ÖKO filter provides a reliable and immediate solution for improving the quality of untreated water.

Beyond the technology, it's an eco-friendly travel companion. Say goodbye to bulky water packs and plastic bottles: you gain autonomy while minimizing your environmental impact. Slipped into a bag or placed on the van's table, the OKO water bottle quickly becomes an everyday essential.

The OKO TAP system – drinking water from the van tap

If you carry a water bottle with you on your outings, the OKO TAP system is the perfect companion for life in your van. This small device transforms any tap into a source of more pleasant drinking water for everyday use, whether in the van, at home, or at a service station.

Easy to install thanks to its universal adapters, it attaches in seconds and uses the same filtration technology as the water bottle. The ÖKO TAP uses a natural limescale inhibitor composed of pentasodium triphosphate and starch. This system prevents calcium and magnesium from accumulating in pipes and on pots and pans, without removing them from the water.

Each cartridge filters approximately 450 litres , and an integrated lever allows you to choose between filtered or unfiltered water.

It's simple, quick and convenient : you can cook, fill your tank or drink directly from the tap.

For vanlifers, campers, and nomads, it guarantees total self-sufficiency. Water finally becomes a controlled comfort, without stress or compromise.

Autonomy, ecology, freedom: the values we share

Van life is more than just a way of traveling: it's a philosophy of life.

By adopting OKO solutions, you support an approach that values sustainability, simplicity and freedom.

✅ Autonomy – you are no longer dependent on drinking water sources.

✅ Ecology – you drastically reduce your plastic waste.

✅ Serenity – you drink cleaner water, wherever you are.

These two products fit perfectly into our vision of conscientious and respectful travel.

FAQ – OKO water bottle and tap system for vanlifers

How do I know when to change the filter in my water bottle or TAP?

Each filter has a limited lifespan: approximately 378 liters for the water bottle and 450 liters for the Tap. For the water bottle, you can use the ÖKO Counter app to track your consumption.

For Tap, a simulator also exists on the ÖKO Counter application.

The app is here to make your life easier and it is available for free download on the App Store or Play Store.

Can I filter fruit juice, soda, or seawater?

No, only clear, fresh water can be filtered. Sugary or salty liquids can damage the filter. The TAP and the water bottle are designed for fresh water: seawater or beverages other than water are not compatible.

How do I maintain my water bottle and the TAP system?

‱ Water bottle: Regularly wash the water bottle, cap, and drinking tube with warm soapy water. Never clean the filter; just rinse the outside if necessary.

‱ Tap: Rinse the external filter and tap regularly, and check for limescale buildup. Store it in a dry place if the tap is not used for extended periods.

What should I do with the used filter?

The used filter can be separated into two parts. The PP5 membrane goes to recycling, and the part containing contaminants goes in the regular trash.

What water temperatures are compatible?

For both systems, the temperature ranges from 5 to 37 degrees.

The water bottle can go in the fridge but not in the freezer.

Be careful in winter, in the mountains, keep your water bottle warm in your bag.
